Junko Suetake has been working on this project under Anne Thorne Architects for architectural design and as the Passivhaus Designer.
Cannock Mill is the construction of 23 homes to Passivhaus standards. This includes 6 flats, 6 x 2 storey houses and 11 x 3 storey houses – all built in timber frame. The Contract also involves landscape and external works including some works to a Mill Pond. The nett area of the houses and flats is 2350m2. There is also an existing Grade 2 Mill which is being upgraded and converted to form the Common House. The total site area is 0.67ha.
The layout integrates the new development into the pattern of roads in the neighbouring area and leaves an East-West corridor for wildlife to continue up the Bourne Valley. using the existing water channels and ponds It is a neighbourly scheme which also provides overlooked shared community open space.
